UNI // Term 3 - Branding and Brief introduction

UNI // WEEK ONE

For the first week after our 3-week break for the easter holidays we were Introduces to the new brief. For this term's brief, we have been set 3 mini briefs within one; The fist being a rebrand and packaging brief, the second being a viral campaign and the third being a campaign for a supermarket product. When being giving this brief I had mixed thoughts about it as I was confident with the first part of as I'm quite confident with branding as I do I as part of my work outside of uni and I have completed numerous branding projects in past. But with the other two parts to the brief, I was not as confined as I struggle to come up with concepts but sore this as an advantage as It will allow me to develop this.

For the next couple of sessions after being indroduced to the new briefs we were told the basics about logo desing as well as being set quick tearn around re-branding tasks.

For this, I started to create an icon that represented getting to a destination as the google car is a  self-driven car. For this a created a pic shape linked to 'w' form shape made from rounded rectangles to represent to road/ route to get to your destination. That fact that it was in a form of a 'w' was firstly a mistake but I realized that I could develop it to the first letter for a logo type, leading me to re-name the 'Google Car' to 'Google Whip'. To do the this I found the font that google uses (Product Sans) but looking at an article that google realized for their recent rebrand. I then used this to create the logotype.

For the second re-brand task we were asked to pick a brand of our chose or the barbican, which I chose.

For this, I started to collect references as well as images of the building and other brutalist architecture. From these references I decided to create the word 'Barbican'
